Golf Stat Acronyms and Glossary

Below is an overview of the golfing terms, acronyms and abbreviations used throughout the Golfshake and known around the world via the professional golf tours, events and commentary.

FIR - fairway in regulation, hitting the fairway off the tee

GIR - Green in regulation. On a par 3 is on the green in 1 shot GIR on par 4 is on the green in 1 or 2 shots GIR on par 5 is on the green in 1, 2 or 3 shots GIR on par 6 is on the green in 1, 2,3 or 4 shots

Birdies Converted - when you make the green in regulation and 1 putt

Sand save - when you get up and down in 2 or less from a bunker regardless of par, so if you 1 putt or chip in

Scrambling - miss the green in regulation but still make par or better

Up and down - miss the green in regulation but 1 putting

Bounceback - shooting over par on a hole then making par or better on the next hole

Abbreviations

SS - Sand Save

SSCRM - Scrambles Made

PPGIR -  Putts per Green in regulation

PPMGGIR - Putts per missed Green in regulation

PPH - Putts per Hole
